On the release day of “Jagame Thandiram” a few hours before the release, Dhanush took to Twitter and posted a candid picture of him with the blockbuster film Jagame Thandhiram’s director Karthik Subbraj. The actor and director can be seen together with a caption expressing his love for working with the director. Then he praised the then his character Suruli and shared the feelings that he loved playing the most notorious gangster ever. He also showed his gratitude to the director for the movie and said that all praises owed to Karthik and his team. He captioned the post as – “Thank you @karthiksubbaraj for "Jagame Thandiram" and #suruli I loved every bit of working with you and playing the most notorious gangster #suruli every credit goes to you and your lovely team.” The Russo brothers also revert to his message on Twitter and said that it was a pleasure working with Dhanush for their next Hollywood movie “The Gray Man ''.

The Tamil blockbuster movie “Jagame Thandhiram” was written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, and the movie was produced under the banner of Y NOT Studios, and Reliance Entertainment by S. Sashikanth, Chakravarthy, and Ramachandra. The movie was slated to release in May 2020 but due to the pandemic movie's release dates were swinging. Eventually, the movie was then bought by Netflix to be released in 17 languages across 190 countries on June 18, 2021. The languages included were Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Brazilian, Spanish (Castilian), Spanish (Neutral), Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese. The music of "Jagame Thandhiram was composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
